Office of the Chief of Police - Administration

Chief Robert Taylor directs the Administration Division. The Narcotics Unit, Swat, Special Crimes and Internal Affairs answer directly to the Chief of Police. The remainder of the department is divided into two divisions, the “Line Operations” and the “Staff Operations”

Assistant Chief Ken Ferguson commands the Line Operation. It consists of Uniform Patrol Division, Traffic Investigation Unit, Crime Analysis, Motorcycle Solo Unit, Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Unit (COPPS Bike Patrol), Detective Division, Forensic Computer Investigation Unit, K-9 Unit, Underwater Rescue and Recovery Unit, Bomb Squad, School Liaison Unit, and Police Fleet Repair Facility.

Assistant Chief Perry Gilmore commands the Staff Operation. It consists of Public Safety Information Services, Crime Prevention Unit, Crime Stoppers, Support Services Division, Jail, Dispatch and 911 Call Center, Property and Evidence Unit, Training and Personnel Division, Professional Standards, Quarter Master, and the Amarillo Shooting Complex.
